I have been making my niece’s dress for the basketball homecoming. The event was last Friday night and it went great. What do you make for a basketball player who would rather be in her basketball warmups than a formal?
I chose to make a dress using the school colors (red, white & black) for a girl who was voted most school spirited. She agreed with my color choice and my design and this is out it turned out:
This dress is made with silk crepe with a white crumb catcher bodice and black skirt lined with a cling free lining (so glad to find it). The corset is a separate piece also made from silk crepe with a nylon lining. The red corset is ruched with 10 pieces of boning. What we do for beauty.
I can’t tell if she is happy because she is finished getting ready for the homecoming ceremony or that she scored 10 points in the game including a 3 pointer (it may have been two 3 pointers).
Anyway, thanks Kate for the honor of making your homecoming dress and for the free advertisement. What a way to start my new sewing business!!

Have a great day.

Beautiful dress!!! Very creative and thoughtful!! She looked great!
Oh my gosh, that's some kinda pretty. I just bought my daughter's prom dress, and the alterations were amazing. I'm not much of a seamstress, but my granny was. She made me some beautiful dresses, and seeing this brought back the memories.~~Dee
