According to Vogue.com some of the world’s most famous dresses are going up for auction this month when actress Debbie Reynolds sells her private collection.  The lot includes Audrey’s Breakfast at Tiffany’s dress and Marilyn Monroe’s subway dress, two of the most copied dresses ever.  Ms. Reynolds wanted to have a museum for her collection so it would not be split up, but sadly she could not find a backer.  This surprises me.  I would pay to see these dresses and I know others would to just to be able to see them up close and personal.  It would be so wonderful to see all the dresses stay together.
The sale will take place at Beverley Hills auction house Profiles In History on June 18.
You can click on the link to see photos of all the dresses and to see a video invitation from Ms. Reynolds.  The auction is expected to bring $7 million, with Marilyn’s dress expected to bring $2 million.
Have a great day.
